A typical wedding day can go on for at least a few hours if not longer, so comfort should be a huge consideration when picking a maternity wedding dress. Depending on what stage of pregnancy you are at you may need to visit the restroom frequently, and a big, billowing dress may make that very complicated! Choose carefully! If you want to wear a voluminous skirt for the ceremony, consider an overskirt paired with a simple dress, which can be removed for the reception.

Look at clothing made with light-colored breathable and flowy, cool fabrics, as pregnant women get hot very quickly. Dresses with built-in elastic panels or waistbands and stretchy material work well too. Your goal is to feel beautiful but not to become overheated. A wedding is exhausting enough but feeling uncomfortable and overly warm will just make you grumpy and tired.

Early Pregnancy

Now, for those in early pregnancy but growing you may not need maternity clothing just yet but you’ll appreciate a little extra ‘comfort room’. Later Pregnancy

Bridal separates might work at this stage as you can buy different sizes and styles for top and bottom to accommodate your shape a little easier.

For your own comfort straps will probably be a must. A strapless dress may not give you the support you need at this stage of your pregnancy. A corset back is a good idea as it adjusts easily and helps to give you more room around the bodice area.

In addition, don’t forget to consider what shoes you will wear when picking out a wedding dress. Feet swell and increase in size in pregnancy so a comfortable, flat heel is a must.
